Shali is declared as a world heritage area

Location: Siwa Oasis - Western Desert – Egypt Architect : Ramez Azmy – Emad Farid   After nearly three continuous years of work to restore the ancient buildings and monuments of the ancient city of "Shali" in the Siwa Oasis, the city is currently ready to receive the ministers of tourism, antiquities, planning and international cooperation, in addition to about 20 ambassadors of European countries, to declare it as a world heritage area. The governorate had concluded a protocol for the revival and restoration of the old village in 2018 with funding from the European Union.  There were about 300 workers from the oasis participating in the restoration of the ancient village, built entirely from the material known as kershif, palm pillars and olive trees. The roads between the abandoned houses were also revived and the rundown walls were raised to a height of 18 meters to restore the villa...

Rufiji Dam Egyptian Projects in the Heart of Africa

Stiegler's Gorge Dam, Rufiji Dam or Nyerere Dam are all different names for one of the largest dams in Africa that is currently being constructed on the Rufiji River in Tanzania with Egyptian arms, a joint venture implemented by a consortium made up of the Arab Contractors and the Elsewedy Electric. The consortium was awarded a tender to establish the hydropower dam on Tanzania's Rufiji River in 2018, provided that the project will be completed and the dam will be inaugurated in 2022. Tanzania Dam from Concept to Implementation The idea of constructing a dam on the Rufiji River in Tanzania dates back to the beginning of the twentieth century. The first study of the dam was conducted in 1940.This study envisaged building a small-sized dam to control floods in the area and protect the irrigation infrastructure.  However, by 1961 the FAO published a study that included the possibility of establishing a larger dam that aims to generate electricity and turn the area into an industrial environment in addition to controlling floods and providing irrigation and drinking water. After the independence of Tanganyika in 1961, President Nyerere saw the hydroelectric dams as an opportunity to develop Tanzania and a move towards industrialization with cheap electricity to get out of the economic crisis. This has prompted him to search for an external source to finance the dam. However, implementation did not take place due to the World Bank's refusal to...

One of the strongest messages in the attached report is that our common humanity necessitates global solidarity. We cannot accept the levels of inequality that have been permitted to emerge on our shared countery. It is particularly important that the world supports developing countries with investment in 21st century education infrastructures; this will require the mobilization of resources and support from developed countries, in particular with debt cancellation, restructuring, and new financing. The magnitude of this challenge is clearly evident with regard to the digital divide in Africa. F...
