Location: Ismailia Governorate Project Area: 5820 m. long Owner: Egyptian Government Project Aim: The project aims to link Sinai with the Nile Delta and relieve the burden on the citizens' as they cross between the two banks of the Canal and serve development projects in the region. The tunnels will shorten travel time between the west bank of the Suez Canal and the east bank to less than 20 minutes.   Suez Canal Tunnels There are 5 new tunnels represented in 2 tunnels in Ismailia connecting eastern Ismailia to western Ismailia in 15-20 minute trip by car. Western Ismailia has land borders with central Sinai, 2 tunnels in Port Said connecting west canal cities with its east to facilitate the movement of people and products in Suez Canal region, in addition to Martyr Ahmed Hamdy Tunnel in Suez. 10 Important Facts About New Suez Canal Tunnels: The new tunnels connect east Ismailia with its west and vice-versa. They shorten the travel time crossing the Suez Canal to (10-20) minutes. The speed inside the tunnels is 60 km/h and monitored under radar detectors. Each tunnel is made up of 2 lanes for cars in each direction. The tunnels are 5820 m. long and pass beneath the surface of the ground and the navigation course of the canal at a depth of 70 and 53 m. Ministers of Transport in Egypt and France Witness the Signing of Cairo Metro Line1 Renovation Agreement

Lt General / Kamel El-Wazir , Egyptian Transport Minister, and his French counterpart, Mr. Jean-Baptiste, witnessed the signing of the executive agreement for the loan presented by the French Development Agency " Agence Française de Développement" (AFD) to finance the development and rehabilitation works of the 1st Metro Line worth €50 million. The agreement was signed by Dr. Essam Wali, head of the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT), Mr. Fabio Grazi, Director of the French Agency office in Cairo, and the French ambassador in Cairo, Mr. Stéphane Romatet. The Minister of Transport emphasized the depth of relations between Egypt and France and the historical and current fruitful cooperation in the field of transport, as a number of joint projects and contracts are being implemented, the most important of which is the implementation of the third phase of the third line of the metro, which is implemented by the alliance (French Vinci / Orascom / Arab Contractors) as well as the signing of a managemet, operation and maintenance contract of the third metro line (Cairo University - Imbaba - Abbasiya - Adly Mansour) between the National Tunnels Authority and the French RATP DEV company, pointing out that he is looking forward to more fruitful cooperation with French companies in all areas of transportation. Egypt, Japan discuss overhauling 35 Cairo subway second -line trains, according to the proposal of the Japanese company Mitsubishi

Egypt’s Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir held a meeting with Mr. Masaki Noke, Ambassador of Japan in Cairo, to discuss cooperation in overhauling and maintenance of 35 Cairo subway second-line trains which were supplied by Japanese company Mitsubishi since 1996. The two sides discussed the latest developments in the technical offer submitted by the Japanese company Mitsubishi to implement the manufacturing and supply of mobile units, CP 412 for the first phase of the fourth line of the metro.  Wazir emphasized the importance of developing and maintaining these trains as it would increase their efficiency, especially with the addition of air-conditioning. He added that cooperating with the National Egyptian Company for Railroad Industries is an essential part of this project, and that intensive meetings will be required between the National Tunnels Authority, NERIC and Mitsubishi to come up with the best plan for their development in a speedily manner. The Transport Ministry places great importance in developing the first and second lines of the subway, he said, alongside updating the current fleets in parallel with finalizing the subway network lines according to the latest technologies. Noting the depth of Egyptian-Japanese relations, Wazir pointed out the fruitful cooperation between both sides in multiple fields – particularly transportation and metro projects.

The new city of Galala, a far-fetched dream that has finally become a tangible reality, is the result of the continuous effort of the honorable Egyptian cadres, who worked day and night to see a magical global city with a coastal spirit in Egypt. The project is considered one of the most important mega national projects that combine the charm of natural sceneries and global components, as the project includes a tourist resort, a city with integrated services, in addition to the Ain Sokhna-Zafarana Road, which crosses the Galala Mountain, thus becoming a project of historical, cultural and strategic value. The new City of Galala is one of the major projects supervised by the Engineering Authority of the Egyptian Armed Forces. The project is one of 253 important national projects in the Egyptian governorates. It is located on the highest mount plateau in the Red Sea area between Ain Sokhna and Zafarana. The plateau sits over 770 meters above sea level at its highest elevation. The main road of the project starts from Wadi Hagoul area and is linked to the new Beni Suef / Zaafarana road with a length of 160 km and connects between Beni Suef and Zaafarana. The length of the main Galala Plateau Road is about 82 kilometers on both sides while the speed allowed for the cars is 120 km/h.
