The building was only a concrete skeleton already built and purchased by the Owner, with an ambition to live in a luxurious modern palace overlooking the stunning views of Kattameya Dunes Golf course. The Banque Misr building, to which ECG provided the complete design and construction supervision services for architectural and structural works, belongs to the first national banking industry giant. Its well-engineered built masterpiece is in close vicinity to the Central Bank of Egypt, which empowers BM brand and urban visuality in Egypt’s New Capital. The building’s contemporary wholly glazed facades were inspired by BM’s legacy. The Syndicate of Engineers in Alexandria, headed by Dr. Mohammed Hisham Saoudi, and the Industry and Energy Committee headed by Dr. Hassan Lotfy, organized a seminar entitled "The Construction Industry and Building Information Modeling Technology (BIM") on Thursday, 19 November at the Syndicate's Conference Hall. The Syndicate indicated, in a statement today, that Dr. Shaima Ashour, Engineer Islam Khalil, Engineer Salim Badawy and Engineer Moataz Ehab, who are BIM technology experts, delivered lectures at the symposium. Construction continues in the new city of Rafah, the first Egyptian city on the eastern borders of Egypt. Eng. Mohamed Radwan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing, confirmed that the implementation of 43 new residential buildings from phase I has begun, bringing the total number of buildings to 84 (a ground floor + three floors) with a total of 1344 housing units, each of which has an area of 120 square meters, in addition to the construction of 7 service buildings and nurseries. He said that work is underway to extend the water and sanitary drainage networks at the public site in conjunction with coordination for the external utilities of the city as a whole, explaining that the implementation rate for 41 buildings is 95%, and added that the concrete works for 43 new buildings, and finishing works for the service buildings are underway. He stated that the feeding and sanitation works are underway for the general site of 41 buildings, and the main water line has been connected to feed the project. The Minister of Housing also touched upon the formation of the inspection committee and the responsibilities entrusted to it, as well as the names of the supervisor authorities that will monitor construction work. Orascom Construction announces that it has signed, together with Siemens Mobility and Arab Contractors, a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) to design, install and commission Egypt’s first high-speed rail system. The agreement encompasses a rail system with a network of 1000 km. The first high-speed line will stretch across 460km and has an order value of around USD 3 billion.
