Banque Misr Building new capital

The Banque Misr building, to which ECG provided the complete design and construction supervision services for architectural and structural works, belongs to the first national banking industry giant. Its well-engineered built masterpiece is in close vicinity to the Central Bank of Egypt, which empowers BM brand and urban visuality in Egypt’s New Capital. The building’s contemporary wholly glazed facades were inspired by BM’s legacy. Built in a premium strategic location, BM’s massive scenic building stands on Plot No. 23A.2, with a plot area of 11,245 m2, footprint area of 4,322 m2, and a total height of up to 34 meters; comprising two basement floors, a ground floor, and seven upper floors. The ground floor houses main and VIP entrances, a banking hall including screened teller counters with vast back-office areas, service areas including restrooms and pantry, and entry/exit ramps to underground parking in basements accommodating up to 400 parking spaces. Floors from first to seventh are allocated to BM’s office areas.

Madbouly follows up the final steps of construction and planning control project for approval

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held a meeting to follow up the final steps of laying down planning and building controls and requirements for Egyptian cities, in the presence of Major General Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Local Development, Dr. Asim El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Engineer Khaled Abbas, Deputy Minister of Housing for National Projects and Dr. Abdel Khalek Ibrahim, Assistant Consultant for Minister of Housing. During the meeting, Dr. Assem Al-Gazzar reviewed the planning and construction controls and requirements at the city level in terms of uses, heights and building ratios, areas and dimensions of plots of land, and parking spaces. He also discussed the executive procedures for starting construction work, and the procedures for issuing building permits. The Minister of Housing also touched upon the formation of the inspection committee and the responsibilities entrusted to it, as well as the names of the supervisor authorities that will monitor construction work. At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister confirmed that the final planning and construction requirements will be presented to the President, in preparation for their approval by the Supreme Council for Urban Planning and Development.

Launching a major architectural competition for young architects to find design solutions for small spaces in light of Coronavirus pandemic challenges

 An architecture competition for young architects and interior designers will be launched on first half of Jan. 2021. It's a major architectural competition named “Young Architects Competition 2021”, whose theme this year is “Design solutions for small spaces in light of Coronavirus pandemic challenges.” As a matter of fact, Coronavirus pandemic has added new challenges to architects, planners and interior designers in terms of creating livable interior spaces that are characterized by flexibility in use, sustainability and health safety. It's assumed that this epidemic continues threatening human lives. Consequently, it has become important to find safe spaces suitable for use in various purposes. It is certain that the matter is getting more difficult with small spaces in housing, commercial, educational or administrative sectors, which are activities that cannot stop under any circumstances. the Young Egyptian Architects Competition 2021 A step on the way to integrating young architects

 Within the activities of the Cairo Construction Hub, the results of the Young Architects competition “Design Solutions for Small Spaces in Light of COVID-19 Pandemic Challenges”  which was launched from Jan.25 till March 30 were announced. It must be noted that 316 applicants have participated in the competition, while 186 proposals were submitted by all the contestants to the technical committee after closing the door for submission at the end of last March.  Numbers and significances: In an analytical view of the performance of the competition, it is possible to understand the aspirations of young architects and their desire to contribute to the current urban movement strongly through the remarkable turnout, where more than 316 applicants participated in the competition, of which 224 teams and the rest were individual subscriptions. The competition showed the participation of more than 51 universities and research institutions.
